WHEN THE STEEP SLOPE BECOMES A REFUGE
From the NIV Bible:
He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights.
(Psalm 18:33)
When danger approaches, a mountain goat can climb a nearly vertical rock face, finding footholds on narrow ledges where many predators struggle to follow. The very slope that looks too steep to climb can become the path to higher ground.
David knew what it meant to be pursued. In Psalm 18, he praises God for delivering him from his enemies and giving him steady feet on difficult ground. Sometimes we pray for God to make the path easier, and His answer comes through the wisdom and courage He gives us to take the next step.
In our walk with Christ, higher ground is a place of deeper trust and obedience. When someone offends you, higher ground may mean speaking the truth without retaliating. When fear rises, it may mean bringing that fear to God in prayer before it decides your next move. You may see only one foothold today. Ask God to steady your feet as you take that step with Him.
Something to Ponder! 🤔
Where is God inviting you to take higher ground in the way you respond today?
