Waiting Can Be Hard. I Know!
From the NIV
Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD. (Psalm 27:14)
I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope. (Psalm 130:5)
Waiting can be hard. I know. We pray, hope, and look for signs that something is changing. Yet sometimes the answer has not come, the door remains closed, and our circumstances look the same. We can trust God and still feel tired. Faith does not require us to pretend that waiting is easy.
Abraham waited for a promised son. Joseph endured years of hardship before stepping into a position of authority. Their stories remind us that God can work beyond what we can see. However, trusting His timing also means allowing Him to shape the outcome, even when it differs from what we hoped.
While we wait, we can bring God our disappointment, continue doing what He has entrusted to us, and take the next faithful step. We can seek wise counsel, care for our hearts, and remain open to His direction. Waiting on the Lord can include meaningful action.
If we are weary today, we can pray honestly: “Lord, this is hard. Help us trust You with what we cannot control.” We may not know how long this season will last, but we can seek His presence within it. Our hope rests in the One who hears us and walks with us through uncertainty.
Heart Check: What are we waiting for today, and what faithful step can we take while we wait?
